Under these conditions, rats typically show a configuration of changes that comprise the
state called acclimatization. These include changes in heatproduc-tion and food intake,
endocrine structure and function, peripheral vascularization, and so on (1). In this paper, I
report data (2) based on brief exposures to varied temperatures which appear. to
demonstrate acclimatization phenomena of very short latency.
